RFL Nationals 2005

and Combots Cup

Results

The 2005 Nationals and the $10,000 Combots Cup are over. We did pretty well in both events. Star Hawk 3.0 Placed 3rd in the 2005 Super Heavy Weight National Championship and 4th in the Combots Cup Open.

KITT (aka Spatula) finished 5th in the Hobby Weight Class at the Nationals.

Finally, our all new heavy weight Eugene finished in the middle of the pack for the $10,000 Compots Cup open -- a very good showing for a brand new bot.

A tough fight. We had destroyed some of our electronics in the pits prior to the fight and didn't get everything repaired before loading it into the box. As a result, the radio dies shortly after entering the ring.
We didn't know how to handle this fight. We decided that if there was any possibility of early damage that we'd tap out early. Our weapon's bearings gave out very early so we tapped out of this one to avoid a beating from Megabyte.
Everything worked perfectly. Eugene's weapon eats right through the side of Jaw Breaker and wins the match.
The Box Cart was quite a hit. The thing got lots of rides. We filmed the following rides.
Our last fight of the event. At this point, we'd taken quite a bit of damage but were ready to take super head to head. Unfortunately, super got a perfect hit on our rear armor and tore it off forcing us to tap out early.
This one nearly went the distance. Buster put up a brave fight following a tough match with Super Megabyte but just could go toe to toe with Star Hawk. Buster looses most of his electronics through the fight -- look for the magic smoke.
Finally we have a self righting device that works! Unfortunate we had to make that device out of steel (no time for Ti fabrication) so when it finally got bent we couldn't self right off the wall. Also, we were blowing lots of bearings at the event and had to run our weapon at 20% power to "save" them for the Super Megabyte match that would follow.
KITT being driven by Will. He holds his own till KITT gets stuck on the rail.
KITT being driven by Billy. A good test for the new wedges and all. KITT wins this one easily.
KITT being driven by Will. Bullet's traction was great and we were running hard tires. Bullet pulls out a close win.
